The governing body of Calp Town Hall has agreed to allocate €120,000 from the 2023 municipal budget to those affected by the tragic DANA in Valencia on 29th October. These funds are drawn from the Protocol and Advertising sections of the current budget, as stated by the Town Hall.
The necessary budgetary credit modification to assign the €120,000 to aid the affected populations and the modification file will be forwarded to the Local Government Board to commence its processing.
This financial aid is in addition to the solidarity campaign for collecting goods and food conducted by the Calp Town Hall, through which 40 trucks of urgent humanitarian aid were sent to Valencia. Furthermore, the Town Hall has dispatched personnel, vehicles, machinery, and safety and emergency materials to the affected areas.
Personnel from Calp Civil Protection, local police officers, and municipal General Services workers have been deployed to the municipalities affected by the flood to assist in cleaning efforts, along with vehicles and workers from Acciona, the local cleaning service concessionaire, or Aguas de Calpe. The Town Hall also provided two free buses to transport volunteers to the affected areas in Valencia.
The mayor, Ana Sala, stated that "as a municipality, we do not forget the populations affected by the DANA; this contribution demonstrates our commitment to the recovery of their infrastructure and services and our willingness to assist in returning to normalcy as soon as possible."
