Sixteen years later, a businessman faces three and a half years in prison for allegedly not returning a payment of more than 341,000 euros that he received by mistake in his bank account from the Novelda City Council.
The Prosecutor's Office details that on September 2, 2008, the man, administrator of the firm, received the money as payment for the construction of the Dance Conservatory due to an administrative error by the council.
The public accusation, considering him guilty of embezzlement, maintains that the man did not return the money to the city council, which did not realize the error until 2010 when the Bank of Spain demanded repayment of the debt.
The trial takes place this Thursday, October 3, at 10 a.m. in Section Two of the Provincial Court of Alicante.
On the same day, but in Section Ten, the Prosecutor's Office provisionally requests a seven-year prison sentence for each of the two men accused of sexually assaulting a young woman, who was 20 years old at the time of the incident, on September 18, 2022, in a shopping center in Benidorm.
The defendants saw the victim lying on top of a pool table located in the establishment. While one of them kept watch, the other pounced on her, threatened her with a knife, and sexually assaulted her despite her kicking attempts to fend off the attack.
