The UA Sports Service collaborates with the Spanish Association Against Cancer to raise awareness of the disease and foster hope in society.
The University of Alicante, through the Sports Service, has joined the "Bracelets of Hope" initiative by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), as part of the national campaign #AllAgainstCancer. In the days leading up to and following February 4th, World Cancer Day, players from various sports will replace the traditional black ribbon with a green one, symbolising hope and solidarity with those facing this disease.
The ceremony for the distribution of the green bracelets took place at the UA Sports Service facilities and was attended by representatives from the AECC, along with prominent members of the university community. Among them were Rafael García Juan, Director of the Sports Service; Sergio Sellés Pérez, Director of the Sports Secretariat; Eva Espinar Ruiz, Director of Social Responsibility Projects; Carmen Vives Cases, Vice-Rector for Equality, Inclusion and Social Responsibility; and José Ramón Martínez Riera, Director of the Healthy University Secretariat.

Throughout the weekend and the following week, during scheduled competitions, athletes will wear the green ribbon on their arms, raising awareness for the cause and sending a message of hope and support to those battling the disease.
Additionally, the University of Alicante has created a photo album where all images related to the initiative will be collected, accessible via the following link: Photo Album. A space on the Sports Service website has also been set up to update information about the campaign and share images of the activities carried out.
