"I am not bothered by the label of having been an actress in 'Física o Química'"

Llegó a 'La Favorita' characterized by her tough demeanor and became the best head of restaurant halls. Actress Andrea Duro (Fuenlabrada, Madrid, 33 years old) plays Ana Ferrer in the drama aired by Telecinco this Monday (10:00 PM). The series tells the story of the Marquise Elena de Valmonte (played by actress Verónica Sánchez), a cultured woman of privileged status trapped in a marriage with an authoritarian husband, who is forced to flee to Madrid after an incident and rebuild her life.

–What convinced you about 'La Favorita 1922'?

–I was thrilled to work with Bambú Producciones again. The last project I did with them was 'Velvet Colección', and I love period series. They are incredibly fun because women are completely different in each era: you can work with characters from different perspectives, and you find places where you can go absolutely crazy, and that excited me a lot. Then I read the scripts, saw the development of the series and the characters, and I loved it. It also helped that the producer of the series is Josep Cister. He was one of the people who chose me for 'Física o Química'.

–You have established yourself as an actress in period series.

–It's something I love, although I hadn't touched the twenties before. It was fun, but also shocking because they gave me a very radical haircut, changed my hair color... Aesthetically, being in 'La Favorita 1922' has been amazing because of its aesthetic, which I think is beautiful. I'm living a dream, I want people to see the series and even make it to a seventh season.

–Have you followed 'Física o Química: la nueva generación', the continuation of the series you starred in almost twenty years ago?

–I loved it. I think the kids are fantastic, and the series has a more modern touch, telling current stories that are necessary. You can also see the generational change that has occurred, especially with the topic of social media, romantic relationships, and showing sex in a more explicit way than we did. I met the actors at the 'premiere' of 'Física o Química', and they seemed like great actors. I wish them all the luck because they have tremendous talent for their first project.

–How do you handle the label of being the actress from 'Física o Química'? Does it weigh on you as the years go by?

–I don't give it importance anymore. I never did, although it's true that there was a moment when I said enough is enough. I understand it was the series with which I started, the one that marked a before and after in my life and career as an actress. It was a great success on television and marked many people who grew up with us. I will never be able to shake off the label of 'actress from Física o Química'. And it doesn't bother me.

–Could 'La Favorita 1922' be the great success of your career?

–I hope it will be a new milestone in my career as 'Física o Química' was. I would love for this series to achieve the same impact. In fact, even before it started airing, people were already placing me in the series of 'the cooks'.

–How is it to be back to being concerned about ratings?

–I had already forgotten what it was like to wake up early and check the ratings to see if I get a pleasant surprise. It's one of the worst moments I experience, a heart-pounding moment. You think it gets better with the years, but it doesn't. I will handle it just as badly.

–What do you think of those who say that now series on open television don't work and that it's better to watch them on platforms?

–It's true that platforms have more pull, and people are watching less and less television. That's a fact, and it's happening. But we hope that people will re-engage with watching a series on open television. 'La Favorita 1922' will also move to a platform, as is now customary. The network is in talks, but we want it to succeed on open television.
