The Bonfires Learn Safety Through the Local Police

The Alicante City Council and the Federation of Bonfires of San Juan have organised the first meeting of the II Conference on Safety in the Festival for this Saturday, May 10th, starting at 9 a.m. at the Puerta Ferrisa Auditorium. Councillors for Security, Julio Calero; Festivals, Cristina Cutanda; the president of the Federation of Bonfires, David Olivares, and representatives from the Local Police, Civil Protection, and SAMU will participate. The second meeting will take place on May 31st at the Vissum Clinic, with the participation of Firefighters and the Civil Guard.

"The aim of these conferences is to convey to the people of Alicante the basic recommendations and practical advice to promote safe and responsible Bonfire festivals, with a special emphasis on the correct handling of pyrotechnic material," explains the Security Councillor, Julio Calero.

Meanwhile, the Festivals Councillor, Cristina Cutanda, highlights the importance of these conferences and invites the festival-goers to attend because, she notes, "information, prevention, and good practices are essential to avoid accidents and ensure that everyone can enjoy the Bonfires without having to regret any damage."

Among other recommendations, the agents and professionals will stress the importance of respecting safety rules and especially protecting minors and pets. They will also introduce the regulations and various recommendations on the sale and handling of pyrotechnic material.
