'Yesterday, today, and tomorrow.' This is how the Polígono de San Blas thinks after being pleasantly surprised during the 2024 Bonfires. The Special category district once again bets on the essence of the past, with an eye on the present and the future through a bonfire that gives voice to history with monumental dimensions.
Fran Santonja, from inside the Arte Efímero workshop, returns with classicism as his banner, without neglecting the message. The artist continues with a daring bonfire in a challenging location, such as the plot on Doctor Rico Avenue in Alicante.

This bonfire, Polígono de San Blas 2025, is presided over by an imposing bust of the god Zeus, emerging from his temple on a triangular pedestal. In this form, Santonja evokes the artistic past of the Bonfires. At the top, the planets of the Solar System float, symbolizing the history of civilization and the challenges of humanity.

Three niches, in the style used by artists such as Gastón Castelló, Remigio Soler, and Pepe Gutiérrez, shape the bonfire ensemble and represent, as a triptych, the three essential times: 'Yesterday, today, and tomorrow.'

The first is a visual homage to the past of humanity, an artistic, political, sociological, and cultural journey articulated with a grand staircase and a pictorial background that aims to be an icon of this edition. The second is the plane dedicated to the present, full of criticism.
This scene evokes the fragile global balance marked by the Ukraine war and Donald Trump's return to the US presidency. In contrast, the third niche projects towards the future, delving into the ethical and existential dilemmas posed by artificial intelligence, as a possible threat to human supremacy on the planet.

The bonfire will be surrounded by scenes symbolizing Evil, represented as a permanent destabilizing agent throughout all eras. Despite this, Santonja does not forget humor or popular criticism. Contemporary satirical ninots will appear at its base with festive nods, thus highlighting the wit of the Bonfire Festival.
