Body Found in Torrevieja's Eras de la Sal Municipal Area

The Civil Guard is investigating the discovery of a body in a semi-abandoned building within the Eras de la Sal enclosure in Torrevieja, located in the urban area. The authorities have declined to provide details about the investigation due to judicial secrecy.

The Eras de la Sal, once the origin of the city and the gateway for its citizens to the world through the export of 'white gold', is now a shadow of its former self. Vandalism is rampant within the historic municipal site, with incidents of break-ins, thefts, and damage.

In 2021, the last edition of the Habaneras Contest took place there. Since then, and with archaeological excavations in between, the polyphony competition has moved to the Municipal Theatre, during which time its deterioration has been significant.
