Residents' complaints about the strong odour led the National Police to dismantle an illegal marijuana cultivation and sales operation in the town of La Nucía. The operation resulted in the arrest of a couple, a man and a woman aged 45 and 51, and the seizure of 85 plants over a metre tall and approximately 2960 grams of marijuana buds ready for distribution. The detainees are accused of an alleged crime against public health.
The police investigation began following a series of reports from residents alerting to a strong smell of marijuana emanating from the property in question, which was causing significant discomfort among neighbours and disrupting the normal rest of local residents.
Initial investigative efforts pointed to the possible existence of a marijuana cultivation inside the residence. Consequently, officers conducted a series of checks that identified the occupants of the property as a couple, a man and a woman.
Due to all the evidence gathered and having confirmed the existence of a marijuana cultivation, a police operation was carried out leading to the arrest of the couple for their alleged involvement in a crime against public health.
