Alicante is experiencing an "absolutely exceptional" June in terms of temperatures, according to the Spanish Meteorological Agency (Aemet), with temperatures 3.2 degrees above the usual for this time of year. Since the end of May, with the arrival of a dana in southern Spain that brought Saharan air to the province, abnormal temperatures have settled in.
Therefore, the province of Alicante has been experiencing the warmest days since records began in 1950. With a high probability, June is set to be the hottest in the series, surpassing those of 2022 and 2003, according to Aemet.
El mes de junio de 2025 va a ser, con una probabilidad alta, el más cálido de la serie, superando a junio de 2022 y de 2003.

Far from easing, Aemet predicts another surge in temperatures starting Friday, which will extend into the early days of next week. This means that the Bonfires of San Juan in Alicante could be among the hottest in history, as the main days of the city's official festivities will coincide with this heat peak.
Estamos teniendo un mes de junio absolutamente excepcional, no tanto por las temperaturas extremas sino por la persistencia en las temperaturas muy por encima de lo normal. In the past two weeks, temperatures have consistently been above the average marked over the last thirty years, between 1991-2020, with peaks nearly five degrees higher than usual.

However, the worst are the minimums. The tropical nights, those exceeding 20 degrees, have started earlier this year than ever before. Even this week, there have been instances of scorching nights, those above 25 degrees. This occurred on the night from Sunday to Monday in Benidorm, with Alicante nearing this record with a minimum of 24.4 degrees.
Such temperatures and climate are expected to continue throughout the month, according to Aemet, so very warm days are anticipated, not just due to the flames of the Bonfires.
