A British citizen flying from Alicante to Manchester turned the nearly three-hour journey into a nightmare. Bites and spitting while foaming at the mouth were some of the actions that tested the passengers' patience, leading them to restrain him mid-flight, according to eyewitnesses.

Christopher B., aged 44, was returning to Manchester airport from Alicante on 8 November 2023 on an EasyJet flight when Manchester police arrived to find him pinned down by other passengers, face down on the floor. Travellers informed authorities that the troublemaker had been "biting and spitting" and that the behaviour lasted "about half an hour."

Apparently, it wasn't the first time he caused problems on a flight. Previously, he had pleaded guilty to boarding a plane while intoxicated and aggravated racial harassment. Now, almost a year and a half after the chaotic flight, the Briton has been sentenced to 24 weeks in prison, according to British media reports.

During the trial, his lawyer argued before the court that he felt "deeply ashamed" and wanted to apologise for his offensive language. The defence stated that his client had been on holiday when he received news that his mother had suffered sepsis and was hospitalised in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor argued that passengers and crew could clearly smell "the defendant's toxins," who "slurred his words" and "foamed at the mouth." Additionally, it was expressed that terrified families protected their children while officers tried to restrain him, but he resisted arrest by putting his arms under his body, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The situation escalated to the point where police fired "shots in the air" to force him to release his arms and restrain his legs. They also placed an anti-spitting hood on him, as heard by the Minshull Street Crown Court. Another passenger present stated that the now-convicted man had "repeatedly mistreated" him during the flight and had attempted to bite him.

On the way to the local police station, Christopher B. continued to be aggressive, shouting and threatening the officers with "screwing them," hurling racist insults. Another officer climbed into the back of the van and tried to prevent him from hitting his head. The defendant responded: "Fuck off, bastard." He continued with the racist insults until they reached the station.

Finally, the judge who delivered the sentence noted that "it is a deeply distressing and terribly frightening experience to be on a plane when someone like you behaves in a completely aggressive and difficult manner."
