President of the United States, Joe Biden, has stated that the terrorist involved in the vehicular attack, which resulted in at least 14 deaths in New Orleans, had a remote explosive detonator in his vehicle and acted alone, inspired by the terrorist group Islamic State.
"The FBI has informed me that, so far, we have no information suggesting anyone else was involved in the attack. The attacker was the same person who placed explosives in those ice coolers at two nearby locations in the French Quarter, just hours before driving into the crowd with his vehicle. He had a remote detonator in his vehicle to detonate those two ice coolers," he specified.
Biden recalled that the terrorist had posted several videos hours before the attack, "indicating his strong support for Islamic State." He further stated that security forces are investigating any "domestic or foreign contacts that may be relevant to the attack."
Therefore, although the FBI has assured that "there is no link" between this attack and the explosion of a Tesla vehicle outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, the President has ordered authorities to continue investigating this possibility.
The New Orleans terrorist, Shamsud Din Jabbar, born in Texas and a former US military member, was carrying a flag of the jihadist group Islamic State at the time of the incident. Meanwhile, the man who rented the Tesla that exploded in Las Vegas has been identified as Matthew Allan Liveslbergerm, an active-duty military member.
