After the first semi-final of the Benidorm Fest, La Chispa, the favourite both in betting houses and specialised forums, has emerged strongly with her 'Hartita de llorar' to claim the Bronze Microphone and thus become Spain's representative at Eurovision next May.
With Chica Sobresalto, David Afonso, K!ngdom, and Sonia y Selena out of the competition, Wednesday is a 'rest day' before the second semi-final takes place on Thursday, completing the lineup of eight finalists for Saturday's gala.
It will be after this second event that individual favourites will begin to provide a clearer picture of who will travel to Basel in May. However, Benita, the psychic popularly known as Maestro Joao before her transition, has already pointed out not only the winner (yes, it will be a woman again) but the entire podium of this fourth Benidorm Fest.
In an appearance on the morning show 'Anda ya' on Los40, Benita predicted that the successor in the Benidorm Fest's roster of Chanel, Blanca Paloma, and Nebulossa will not be La Chispa, the big favourite, but another 'old' public favourite who still needs to secure a spot in the final during Thursday's gala.
Following the elimination of Sonia y Selena, who in 2001, after narrowly missing out on the Eurovision event, became a hit with 'Yo quiero bailar'; Benita has named as the winner the other big star of that same second year of the new millennium with the memorable 'El baile del gorila': Melody.
According to the famous psychic, the 34-year-old Sevillian singer (who was just eleven when her dance flooded dance floors and festivals across Spain) will claim the Bronze Microphone with 'Esa diva', a song that, at least according to betting houses, appears as the public's second choice.
After the draw held last Monday, Melody will close the second gala, performing in the eighth position, and in the final, always according to Benita, she will triumph, leaving La Chispa's 'Hartita de llorar' just short of victory. Meanwhile, KBello, with 'VIP', will finish the Benidorm Fest in third place.
