Benidorm will bolster aid to vulnerable families with €150,000 thanks to a grant received by the City Council from the Provincial Council of Alicante. The aid is intended for vulnerable families affected by the energy crisis and also to assist refugees due to the invasion of Ukraine.
The financial injection from the provincial entity will be used, as explained by the Councillor for Social Welfare, Ángela Zaragozí, "to ensure that beneficiaries have sufficient income to cover basic needs such as purchasing food, hygiene and cleaning products, diapers or school supplies, as well as paying for housing rent or utility bills like electricity and water."
Additionally, in the case of refugees from the war in Ukraine, part of the funds can be used to address temporary accommodation needs or services like translation or learning Spanish.
Zaragozí explained that "with this line of aid, the Provincial Council of Alicante joins the efforts made by the Department of Social Welfare to address the needs of Benidorm residents who are experiencing times of difficulty and vulnerability; a budgetary effort with which we contribute to ensuring that all these people have dignified living conditions."
Furthermore, the local head of Social Welfare added that part of the aid will also be used to reinforce the department's staff and thereby "speed up assistance and support for people with socio-economic needs."
