Benidorm Opens All Parking Spaces at Puerto Rico from July

Benidorm City Council will open the entire parking facility on Puerto Rico Avenue, just a few meters from Poniente Beach, starting July 1st. This was announced on Monday by the Mobility Councillor, Francis Muñoz, who explained that opening the interior floors of the building will allow for an additional 150 parking spaces.

Currently, the 200 spaces located on the building's rooftop are operational, directly connected to the beachfront via an elevator that operates 24 hours a day. However, "with the arrival of July and the evident increase in demand," Muñoz indicated, the interior spaces will also be made available, operating from 09:00 to 24:00.

The councillor emphasized that "as with last summer, the use of these spaces will remain free during July and August," facilitating access to the area for residents, visitors, and tourists. Nonetheless, he reminded that the City Council intends to soon tender the management of this parking facility, following the model implemented at the l'Aigüera parking, aiming to provide "the best possible service" during peak periods.

In this regard, the Local Government Board has already approved the management contract conditions, which include a tender for just over 72,000 euros spread over two years. The future contractor will be responsible for organizing and maintaining the service as outlined in the contract specifications.

With this expansion, the Poniente Beach area will have more parking spaces close to the coast. In addition to the Puerto Rico Avenue parking, the area offers over 900 deterrent parking spaces distributed among the parking lots on Xixo, Cuba, and Alcalde Vicente Pérez Devesa Avenues.

The measure aims to facilitate mobility and vehicle access to one of Benidorm's most visited areas during the summer months, especially due to its proximity to the beach and the commercial and dining options along the Poniente promenade.
