Benidorm Local Police successfully averted a potentially violent brawl in the heart of one of the city's most popular and well-known leisure areas, seizing an arsenal of bladed weapons without any significant incidents occurring.
According to sources from the Benidorm Local Police speaking to TodoAlicante, officers managed to disperse the brawl before it began, after observing nearly twenty young individuals preparing for a gang fight, reportedly involving Colombian groups, on Murcia Street.
The brawl was prevented thanks to the continuous police presence maintained by the force in the city's so-called 'tourist zone'. Patrols noticed some potential participants in the brawl carrying a large concealed object in their clothing, which turned out to be a large machete.
Some of the youths managed to flee but were later intercepted by the Local Police. Although some of the fugitives managed to dispose of their bladed weapons before being identified, officers eventually seized a veritable catalogue of knives, machetes, and even a nitrous oxide canister.
Police sources indicate that the brawl, which was ultimately prevented, was likely a result of a possible score-settling. Since the fight did not occur, no arrests were made, although some of those identified have been reported for carrying bladed weapons.
