On September 22, Benidorm will lace up its running shoes once more for the second edition of the solidarity race 'On the Front Line' against childhood cancer. The event, driven by the Socio-Cultural Association of the Local Police, will retain its two main hallmarks in this second edition: its solidarity nature in collaboration with Aspanion, an organization dedicated to working in the field of childhood cancer, and, as its name suggests, the route along the promenades of the two main beaches of the tourist capital.

This Monday, the race organizers presented a promotional video aimed at encouraging everyone to participate and support Aspanion in the fight against childhood cancer. The video exemplifies, in just two minutes, the purpose of the race, as detailed by María José Gutiérrez from Aspanion's Local Board. In that brief time span, the piece "narrates the relationship between a girl with cancer and a runner from her window where she is undergoing treatment until she overcomes it and they meet on the street during one of his training sessions," said José Carrillo from Blau Comunicación. The short film stars Natalia Fernández and Chema Fernández.

With three weeks to go before the event, there are already 228 registered participants, many more than at this time last year, which makes organizers very optimistic about surpassing the 1,200 runners who took part in various modalities during the first edition.

The race will take place along Benidorm's beaches with different participation options to include as many people as possible. Specifically, there will be a 10-kilometer race, a 5-kilometer race, a popular walk along the 5K route, and children's races in l'Aigüera Park.

Regarding the sports events, they will run in reverse direction compared to last year, starting with Levante Beach and, for the 10K race, also reaching Poniente Beach.

Last year's 'On the Front Line' race raised more than 22,000 euros. This year, all attendees at the presentation expressed their hope and confidence that "the success will be even greater because the work being done is worth it."

Ángela Zaragozí, Councilor for Social Welfare, showed "the support of the City Council for everything Aspanion needs and for organizing the race." Jesús Carrobles, Councilor for Citizen Security, also thanked "everyone who makes this initiative possible" and highlighted that these events "help bring Local Police closer to citizens and change their perception of us." Similarly, Javier Jordá, Councilor for Sports, emphasized that "sports give visibility to causes like this one; therefore we need to surpass ourselves and improve. The more people we have in the race, the greater visibility it will have."

The registration period for the races remains open and can be completed through www.carrerasolidariabenidorm.es and www.grupobrotons.com. Additionally, participants will receive a commemorative event t-shirt.
