Benidorm continues to achieve milestones at Fitur. This Thursday, at the central square of the Comunitat's stand, the town presented yet another certificate, following the one that designates it as a Pioneer Green Smart Tourism destination.

Following this recognition, the AENOR certificate has arrived, making Benidorm the first destination to receive this recognition, due to its accessibility and commitment to people over 65, a growing market.

The town council has explained the importance of a segment that will reach 30% of the population by 2025, while currently accounting for 21% of the total citizens. In fact, the average senior tourist now stands at 15%, surpassing other age groups.

Benidorm's commitment, boasting "365 accessible days a year," has earned it this certification, propelling it as one of the leading destinations in the Comunitat. Thus, at Thursday's presentation, the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, described Benidorm as a "leader and reference" in the sector and as a pioneer of tourism in Spain.

The event was attended by the First Vice President and Minister of Social Services, Equality and Housing, Susana Camarero; the Minister of Economy and Finance, Ruth Merino; the Minister of Innovation, Industry and Tourism, Marián Cano; and the President of the Alicante Provincial Council and Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, among others.

During his speech, he highlighted Benidorm's commitment to "sustainable tourism," which was the driving force behind the certification of the Valencian Community as the first region with a sustainable tourism strategy certified by AENOR.
