Barcelona ended their recent slump on Tuesday with a commanding victory over Brest at the Lluis Companys. Under the guidance of Hansi Flick, the team controlled the match throughout, highlighting the significant gap between the two sides. Lewandowski's brace, bringing his Champions League tally to 101 goals, along with a goal from Dani Olmo, secured their direct path to the knockout stages, avoiding the preliminary round.

The match presented an opportunity for Barça, evident in the atmosphere. With recent league setbacks still fresh, a win would place them at the top of the standings, and Lewandowski had the chance to join an elite group alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi. The team started with this in mind, quickly overpowering a brave Brest, who soon realised the challenge they faced.

Flick deployed all available firepower, despite the absence of Lamine Yamal. Pedri dropped to midfield, Raphinha took the right, and Fermín López the left, benefiting Dani Olmo and Lewandowski with an additional player for attacking runs. The strategy was familiar: Barça pressed aggressively, regained possession swiftly, and dominated the ball. The opening goal seemed inevitable after Pedri found Lewandowski, who was fouled by Bizot. The former Bayern player capitalised on the penalty to score his 100th Champions League goal.

The start of a difficult night for Brest, unaccustomed to conceding control to their opponents. The French side struggled against the effective midfield play of Marc Casadó and Pedri, and a Barça team adept at rotating their attacking midfielders. Raphinha, actively involved, narrowly missed a shot, while Fermín had the clearest chances but failed to score after a cutback from the Brazilian and was denied by Bizot on his second attempt. It was the end of a first half where Barça started strong but faded, leaving them feeling they had unfinished business.

After the break, Barça pushed for a reassuring goal. Flick's side widened the pitch with Raphinha and an active Gerard Martín, turning the match into a one-sided affair. Brest couldn't escape their half, and chances came like a shooting gallery. Fermín was again thwarted by Bizot, Chardonnet cleared Dani Olmo's effort off the line, and the former Leipzig player finally broke through with a low finish, frustrating Eric Roy's team, who were unable to contain their superior opponents.

The second goal brought calm to Barça, allowing them to enjoy the game through Marc Casadó and Pedri, a duo poised to become central to the club's future. Flick introduced Gavi, Balde, and Pablo Torre, urging his players to maintain intensity and learn from past mistakes, like those in Vigo. Barça aimed to complete the job, and Lewandowski did just that, turning in the box to score the third and secure a morale-boosting victory after recent league setbacks.
