Barcelona secured Lamine Yamal until 2031 on Tuesday. The Barcelona star signed his renewal with the Catalan club, earning a net salary of 15 million euros per season. He will become the highest-paid player in the Barça squad, following the agreement reached between the club, presided over by Joan Laporta, and the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, as reported by El País.
In the negotiation for Lamine Yamal's contract renewal, his parents also participated, despite him not yet being 18 years old. Barcelona finalized Lamine Yamal's continuity earlier than expected, given the interest from many clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, which had previously signed Leo Messi after his long and successful career in football.
In 2023, Barcelona agreed with Lamine Yamal on a contract worth approximately 1.6 million annually until the player turned 18 on July 13. Since contracts for minors cannot exceed three years, this agreement would automatically renew for another three years, until 2029. Upon reaching adulthood, his salary would increase to five million per season.
Lamine Yamal's new contract with Barcelona was set to take effect precisely on the day he turns 18, and considering all the bonuses stipulated in the agreement, the winger's salary could reach nearly 20 million euros annually.
