The spokesperson for the Socialist Municipal Group, Ana Barceló, denounced this Wednesday a new exercise of "accounting trickery" by the mayor, Luis Barcala, in the 2025 municipal budgets. He has programmed 19.4 million euros in investments for 2025 that "in reality, are projects that were promised for 2024 and have not been executed."
In the meeting held this Wednesday to present a preview of the 2025 budgets, the PSPV claims that "the main opposition group has not been informed of the investments that the government team plans to execute next year." However, after the statement sent by the government team, "the new exercise of trickery by the PP government has been exposed, which announces 25 million in investments but 19.4 correspond to the current fiscal year."
In this regard, investments are planned for next year such as the expansion of the municipal cemetery with an amount of €5.2M; remodeling of the San Juan Beach police station for €3M; La Almadraba park with €2.8M; San Blas square with €4.5M; the old Abaseis cinemas with an investment of €0.4; Rafael Pastor sports pavilion with €1.1M; fire-fighting vehicles for €1.1M and Joaquín Villar athletics track for €1.3M.
All these projects are now moved to 2025: "The 2024 budgets have therefore been a fraud for all Alicante residents since the investments promised and announced by the government team have not been executed."
Councilor Silvia Castell recalls that socialists already denounced in July that "there were reductions in committed investments and now we know they are moved to 2025. This happened, for example, with the reform of Abaseis and the remodeling of the San Juan Beach police station, which were investments that were canceled in the second credit modification approved last July."
