Barcelona fans had double the reason to celebrate. Winning the Copa del Rey was accompanied by another blow to their eternal rivals, whom they have now mastered. The victory in Seville marks the third consecutive win for Flick's side in the Clásicos, a dominance not seen in Barcelona for a long time, making the title even sweeter. This time, they had to endure a Real Madrid comeback in the second half, but once again, Barcelona's attacking prowess proved too much for Ancelotti's fragile defence.
The three goals at La Cartuja allow the Catalans to tally twelve goals against Real Madrid this season, a staggering figure that suggests a new order in Spanish football. It all began with four goals in the league match at Santiago Bernabéu, followed by a humiliating 2-5 in the Spanish Super Cup, and finally, the 3-2 in the Copa final.
There remains one last chapter with the decisive league Clásico at Lluis Companys, which is crucial for the league title race. Barcelona will approach this encounter on May 11 with two titles already secured, leading the league regardless of the outcome against Valladolid next week, and after a challenging Champions League semi-final against Inter. It will be another battle where, indeed, Barça will step in with the confidence of knowing how to hurt their eternal rival.
