Banco Sabadell plans to hold its first shareholders' meeting in Sabadell (Barcelona) following the return of its headquarters to Catalonia on March 20, according to sources familiar with the matter, as reported by Europa Press and advanced by 'El Periódico' this Friday. However, the final date must be approved by the bank's board of directors and could change due to scheduling issues.

This will be the first shareholders' meeting the bank has held in Catalonia since March 2017, as the last seven meetings have taken place in Alicante, the city where it moved its headquarters in October 2017 due to the Catalan independence process.

Banco Sabadell is the first listed company on the Ibex 35 that moved its headquarters in 2017 to decide to return it to Catalonia.

When asked by Europa Press this week, major companies that also left Catalonia in 2017, such as CaixaBank, Criteria, Cellnex, Naturgy, or Planeta, declined to comment on a possible return.

On December 3, the cement company Molins also approved returning its headquarters to Catalonia, after relocating it to Madrid in 2017. Other companies that have decided to return their headquarters to Catalonia include Sociedad General de Aguas de Barcelona (SGAB) in September 2018, Red Points in June 2023, and Laboratorios Ordesa in October 2023.
