The Hogueras boost commerce and hospitality in Alicante: "The city is in full swing"

The Hogueras de San Juan 2025 have not only filled the streets with festivities, music, and fireworks but also the shops, bars, restaurants, and markets of Alicante. This has been confirmed by the Councillor for Commerce, Consumption, Hospitality, and Markets, Lidia López, and the president of the municipal markets, Paco Alemañ, who agree on highlighting the dynamic effect of the festivities on the local economy. "With the number of people who have come to the city, both hospitality and commerce are booming, in full swing," stated López. According to the councillor, this boost is not accidental but the result of years of joint work between the economic sectors and the City Council: "We have been working for a long time for and with the commerce of Alicante, and in these festivities, it could not be less," she assured. López also highlighted the sector's involvement in initiatives such as the shop window contest organized by the Department, which has reflected the dynamism of local commerce: "They are increasingly proactive, taking actions and collaborating with us." Similarly, Paco Alemañ pointed out that the Central Market has been a key point during the Hogueras. Although most sales have been concentrated between 11 and 13 hours, due to the celebration of the mascletàs, the volume of work has been remarkable. "We have never had so much distribution to hospitality. Everyone wants to stock up on the best product, that of Alicante and its markets." Due to the holidays, the professionals of the Market have worked with foresight and effort. "Even I have delivered and gone where needed." Furthermore, Alemañ also highlighted the cultural and social value of the market. "It is a must-visit place, and during the Hogueras even more so. At noon there is always the picaeta to keep the party going. That is why the markets and their stalls are essential."
