Bagnaia says he will not race in Valencia even if it costs him the World Championship: "It's not ethical"

The three-time world champion believes it is not right to hold the last grand prix of the championship at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Cheste, and assures that if it takes place, he will not race.

Every year, the MotoGP World Championship plans its final stop in Valencia. However, holding this grand prix seems increasingly unlikely, at least in its original location. The disaster that has struck the Valencian Community alone would be a strong reason to cancel the event, but moreover, the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste is right in the zero zone. Nearby, the sadly famous Barranco del Poyo has devastated the entire southern bank of the Turia. It has also destroyed part of the access to the venue.

"Even at the cost of losing the title, I am not willing to race in Valencia," Pecco Bagnaia, two-time world champion, was clear about the intention to keep the GP of the Valencian Community. Bagnaia is in the midst of the World Championship battle with Jorge Martín. The Italian is 17 points behind the Spaniard, whom he hopes to catch up with in the last two races, starting with the Malaysian GP, where he has already shown he is a step ahead of his rival by leading the first day. "I hope they consider that ethically, given what is happening, it is not the right situation," expressed the Italian.

Jorge Martín, on his part, said he would like to know the decision as soon as possible. "It's important for everyone to know. For now, I race as if there were another race, whether in Valencia or elsewhere, because that's surely what will happen. I will go to win, and if I have the opportunity, I will take it; if not, I will try to do my best, but it would be good to know for both of us, who are fighting for the World Championship, but obviously, we are going to have another race. If it doesn't happen, then that's what I take," he stated.

"The images are terrifying. We are far away, but we have felt it very close, and it hurts a lot. For me, it would be a mistake to talk now about whether we have to race in Valencia or not when there are people who have lost their lives, their homes, everything. All resources should be directed to those people. The rest, events, sports or non-sports, are completely secondary," said Marc Márquez.

The cancellation is on the table, but so is the possibility that another circuit (Spanish or not) could host that last event of the year, which, in sporting terms, should be decisive for the MotoGP title.
