Award for Elda for its Commitment to Cultural, Historical, Environmental, and Archaeological Heritage

The Elda City Council has been awarded by the Association for the Recovery of Historical Centres of Spain (ARCHIVAL) for its commitment to preserving and promoting its cultural, historical, environmental, and archaeological heritage. The award ceremony will take place this coming May 16, at 5:45 PM, in the Alfonso el Magnánimo Auditorium of the La Beneficencia Cultural Centre, headquarters of the Valencia Provincial Council.

ARCHIVAL is a non-profit organisation with over three decades of experience that promotes the recovery of Spain's historical centres from a multidisciplinary perspective: urban planning, landscaping, tourism, culture, commerce, and crafts. In addition to the awards, it conducts activities such as workshops, conferences, exhibitions, and publications to raise awareness about the importance of preserving our legacy, according to municipal sources.

The awards, unanimously approved by the ARCHIVAL Board of Directors on April 22, represent "a collective expression of gratitude to those who dedicate their work to preserving the Valencian identity from Alicante, Castellón, and Valencia."

In addition to the Elda City Council, the following have also been honoured:

• Rodolfo Navarro García, a pictorial and sculptural artist.

• Biar City Council.

• Imperial College of Orphaned Children of San Vicente Ferrer.

• Lucentum Archaeological Complex, Iberian-Roman origin of Alicante.

• House of Andalusia in Valencia.

• Friends of the Castles.

• Álvaro Almenar Picallo, Vice-Rector of the Royal Basilica of the Virgin of the Forsaken and Canon of the Holy Chalice.

• Citizen collective in solidarity with the DANA.

• Goerlich Foundation.

• Cervelló Palace.

• Canal 7 TeleValencia and its director Silvia Costa.

On a national level, the Special ARCHIVAL Spain 2025 Award has been granted to the Real Casino of Murcia "for its exemplary work in defending cultural heritage."
