For the first time in its history, Audi's LMP and DTM prototypes from former official racing programs are available for purchase as exclusive models, ready to be driven.
This allows enthusiasts of the brand's early racing prototypes to fulfill their dreams: not only do they become owners of unique vehicles, but they also become part of one of Audi Sport's most successful eras by acquiring original models.
"We are reconstructing these chassis with refurbished parts from the era to turn them into racing vehicles, adhering to strict standards and with a high level of expertise," says Rolf Michl, Director of Audi Sport GmbH.
"In some cases, even the development engineers from that time are involved in current projects. The Audi R18 e-tron quattro and the RS 5 DTM are two of the fastest racing cars we have built. Customers can expect not only highly coveted racing models but also an exhilarating driving experience. Our clients become part of an exclusive circle, benefiting from our motorsport expertise and comprehensive support."
Audi has achieved victories at Le Mans and titles in the DTM with these vehicles. The winning models from this era remain in AUDI AG's vehicle collection, where Audi Tradition maintains them, keeps them operational, and uses them in events.
Interested clients were able to view the first two available models in Neuburg an der Donau on April 2. The brand brought two cars from glorious eras to an emotional event: the RS 5 DTM chassis 107 and the Audi R18 e-tron quattro chassis 207, with which Romain Dumas/Loïc Duval/Marc Gené achieved the first victory of the new RP2 generation in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) at Spa-Francorchamps in 2012. The RS5 DTM is also a winning vehicle: in 2015, it triumphed with Timo Scheider in the German Touring Car Championship finale in Hockenheim.
The presentation at the Audi Sport Racing Legends project headquarters marks the start of the sales phase for these unique pieces. The following vehicles will be showcased to a specialized audience from May 9 to 11 at the Jim Clark Revival in Hockenheim (Germany), from July 3 to 6 at the Le Mans Classic event (France), and from July 10 to 13 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (United Kingdom).
The first car will be sold and delivered to its new owner this summer. This does not mark the end of Audi Sport's service. Rather, the delivery marks the beginning of comprehensive support. Regular technical inspections, the possibility of repairs, and also a spare parts service and advice from experts who developed these models in the past complete the range of services offered by Audi Sport Racing Legends. By selling a limited number of LMP1 racing prototypes and the Class 1 era of the DTM, Audi Sport offers an exclusive clientele unique high-end vehicles from an unforgettable era of motorsport.
The staff of the new Audi Sport Racing Legends project is preparing these fascinating vehicles for a select group of collectors. Following the program's presentation on April 2 in Neuburg an der Donau, Audi Sport will be present at three international classic car events in Germany, France, and Great Britain. The first model will be delivered mid-year.
