Atletico Madrid came from behind against Leganes thanks to their persistence, ensuring they remain in the league race despite falling behind the main favorites. After two consecutive draws in the league and a heavy defeat in the Champions League against Benfica, the Reds returned to winning ways, once again built on faith and sacrifice, and this time thanks mainly to the assistants, Witsel, Giuliano, and Julian Alvarez, although the goal scorers were Sorloth, twice, and Griezmann.

The Belgian played as a midfielder and on his second attempt to pass in the area, he set up Sorloth, who brilliantly equalized with a backheel. Meanwhile, Diego Pablo Simeone's son, the epitome of 'cholismo', prevented the ball from going out of play, recovered it on the line, assisted Griezmann, and thus secured another hard-fought but deserved victory for the Reds. The last goal came in injury time, with another act of perseverance from Julian Alvarez, allowing the criticized Sorloth to score twice.

Leganes, who took the lead with a stunning goal from Neyou in a rare attack, couldn't withstand the local pressure at the Reds' stadium, which debuted its new name, Riyadh Air Metropolitano, and didn't need the ultras from the Frente. Despite their sluggishness and lack of punch until Sorloth scored, Atletico once again showed courage and heart. The Reds' reaction was rewarded, although the celebration wasn't complete, as Lenglet had to leave the field after Witsel fell on his knee, and Pablo Barrios, one of the best against Leganes, left the field in tears due to a muscle injury.

The inconsistent Atletico, in another game of ups and downs, from more to less and, when time was running out, from less to more, achieved their victory through ambition, conviction, and a spirit of sacrifice. Simeone also reacted in time with his changes, which gave Atletico renewed energy and greater aggression in the second half, after the team was booed off at halftime for struggling so much against a well-organized Leganes in the first half and attacking almost exclusively down the left with Riquelme, lacking other options.

However, always playing in the opponent's half in the second half and with Leganes defending with everything in their area, a different Atletico emerged. With more clarity and, especially, with a commendable fighting spirit that led to the comeback, first represented by Witsel and then by Giuliano, who threw himself to the ground as if it were the last ball of his life to assist Griezmann and seal a match that became uphill because luck didn't smile on them, forcing them to take a step forward. Instead of taking the step back that Simeone is so accustomed to when Atletico takes the lead.
