Amparo Navarro, the candidate for rector at the University of Alicante, has presented her electoral programme to the Technical, Management, Administration, and Services Staff (PTGAS) on Wednesday morning. During the meeting, the professor announced several proposals: remote work for more units, artificial intelligence to develop tasks, and recovering productivity bonuses.
With these measures, among others, Navarro aims to "continue improving the working conditions of this group that supports the internal functioning of the university." The candidate also emphasised that the role these professionals play requires decisions in their favour, including "the recovery of their working conditions and the opportunity to continue advancing in responsibilities within the UA structure."
The professor of Tax and Financial Law proposed reviewing and recovering productivity bonuses that "were withdrawn due to the crisis, in addition to further improving their professional careers." She also mentioned the need to incorporate Artificial Intelligence for certain PTGAS tasks and expand training opportunities for career development.
Amparo Navarro's programme also includes initiatives for balancing professional and personal life for PTGAS members, such as extending the remote work model to more administrative units. Additionally, it proposes benefits for staff responsible for dependents, minors, or other extraordinary personal circumstances.
The candidate also delved into the internal promotion of PTGAS. Her programme proposes measures to "ensure" generational change, as well as "facilitate" the retirement process and the planned and efficient incorporation of young staff. Navarro also suggested advancing the simplification of the selection process and competitions, with criteria that allow for quicker resolution.
At the same time, this new mandate will allow for the completion of the process of reviewing the catalogue of functions that updates the RPT to the reality of the tasks of each position and each responsibility within PTGAS.
