The man arrested in Torrevieja as the suspected perpetrator of the death of his five-year-old stepdaughter in the Murcian district of Llano de Brujas, Jesús J. 'Suso', aged 48, will be held in provisional custody, communicated and without bail this Thursday after appearing before the judge of the Court of Violence against Women number 2 of Murcia. After receiving the report with the proceedings carried out by the Judicial Police, this body has opened a procedure investigating the murder of a particularly vulnerable person due to age and the crimes of psychological abuse and harassment in the family environment.

Furthermore, according to judicial sources, the adoptive mother has also been questioned as a victim-witness, accompanied at all times by the psychologist from the victim support unit. Several witnesses, including the parents and brother of the detainee, have also been questioned.

The magistrate has also issued a protection order regarding the victim, prohibiting the accused from communicating or approaching her as a precautionary measure, in addition to activating the necessary assistance and social protection measures, by referring her to the competent administration. There were no previous complaints of gender violence against her, but the detainee was convicted by this jurisdiction in 2010 and 2014. Specifically, he was convicted of threats in the context of family violence, for which he served two years in prison first, and another year later.

After his arrest last Tuesday in Torrevieja, the accused was transferred at 9:40 am to judicial facilities. Some relatives of the girl gathered at the entrance of the City of Justice in Murcia, under the watchful eye of National Police officers, demanding justice for Nadia.

The crime, which has shocked society, occurred last Tuesday when Ramona, the adoptive mother of the minor, received a call from Jesús J.G. in which he said: "The girl is already in heaven." Subsequently, the minor was found lifeless by the accused's parents in the family home, in the district of Llano de Brujas, allegedly after ingesting pills or narcotic substances.

The initial investigations point to a possible case of vicarious violence, considering that the motive for the crime could be related to revenge against his ex-partner. There were no previous reports of abuse, although there were records of threats in messages directed at the victim's mother.
