Officers from the San Javier Local Police in the Region of Murcia arrested a 36-year-old man last week on suspicion of domestic violence after he allegedly argued with and assaulted his partner at their home on Mártires Street in the municipality.
The Emergency Coordination Centre 112 received a call at 5:25 a.m. on January 25th, reporting a fight in a residence on the aforementioned street. Two patrols were dispatched to the scene, where officers heard cries and screams coming from inside the property.
Upon knocking on the door, Nasr E. B., of Maghrebi origin and the homeowner, answered and admitted to having had an argument with his partner because "she hadn't gotten up to make him tea," according to his statement. During the intervention, officers observed that the interior of the apartment was in disarray, with broken objects on the floor. Additionally, there were bloodstains on the floor of one of the rooms, where a woman and a minor girl were present.
The woman, aged 27 and of Moroccan nationality, had scratch marks on her forearms, blood on her lips and nose, and a swollen cheekbone. Despite this, she initially denied being assaulted by her partner. Meanwhile, the man had injuries on the knuckles of his right hand. Ultimately, in her statement, the victim of the domestic violence indicated that the fight started over a message from another woman sent to her partner, while the detainee claimed the argument occurred because she hadn't prepared tea before he went to work.
Faced with evidence that the woman had suffered an assault, officers arrested the man as the alleged perpetrator of a domestic violence crime. The woman was taken to a medical centre for treatment of her injuries, and the arrested man was taken to the Civil Guard barracks in Santiago de la Ribera, from where he was brought before a judge.
