The Civil Guard has arrested a 57-year-old man in Alicante who impersonated a food company from Safor and issued fake invoices in its name. It is estimated that he defrauded a total of 3,000 euros with this tactic, although the authorities do not rule out the possibility of more affected companies and a higher total amount.
According to the armed institute, the investigation began when the manager of a Safor company became aware of the fraud being committed in the name of his company after receiving a call from a labour and tax consultancy.
The complainant was informed that his company had issued several invoices with errors in their processing. Upon analysis, they discovered that these invoices were never issued by them, concluding that their company's identity was being impersonated and fake invoices were being issued.
Investigators took statements from several Alicante-based companies related to the events and located in Aspe, Alicante, and Novelda. With the information obtained, they managed to determine the perpetrator of the act. Additionally, this individual had an outstanding arrest warrant and imprisonment order from a court in Murcia.
The arrested man is charged with alleged crimes of forgery of commercial documents, impersonation, offences against the public treasury, and against the administration of justice. The main post of Oliva-Gandía has been responsible for processing the case. These proceedings were submitted to the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 5 of Alicante and number 3 of Gandía.
