National Police have arrested a 36-year-old man born in Equatorial Guinea who was at the brothel located in Madrid's Plaza de los Cubos where a 44-year-old Bolivian woman died on Tuesday, according to a spokesperson for the Madrid Police Headquarters.

The arrest took place on Friday at 8 PM as he was leaving a hostel in Tirso de Molina square, also in the city center. In his statement, the man confirmed that he was with the deceased, Ana, that day, but when he left, she was still alive. This will need to be confirmed by the building's security camera footage.

He also stated that, like her, he had consumed a large amount in that room on the tenth floor of Princesa Street number 3. Narcotics and medications were found in the room by the police, as indicated to Europa Press by investigation sources.

Additionally, officers verified that the arrested man was a regular client and had spent the previous night with Ana in a nearby hotel. He had also bought her an expensive handbag using a credit card allegedly stolen from another person, as shown in the shopping center's footage.

For all these reasons, officers accuse this individual, with a criminal record for property crimes, of robbery with violence and fraud, and now also homicide, in case investigations reveal that the prostitute's death was violent.

For now, the preliminary autopsy report determines otherwise. It is suspected she died from ingesting narcotics, although the toxicology report will confirm this. Her body showed no blood or stab wounds and was found face down on the floor.

The fact that the man fled the scene and discarded the clothes he wore on the day he visited the brothel in Plaza de los Cubos raises suspicions among officers that something more might have happened there. Madrid's Investigating Court number 9, handling the case, might order a new autopsy.
