The body of a Northern Irish citizen, missing in Rojales since last December, was discovered on Tuesday afternoon. Following the grim discovery, a man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the homicide.
The operation commenced upon finding the lifeless body, in an advanced state of decomposition, of this 37-year-old man from Northern Ireland. The body has been transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine for an autopsy.
Initial investigations, pending official confirmation from the medical examination, suggest that the body may belong to John George, whose father reported his disappearance after he failed to return to his home country and lost contact with the victim.
The last interaction John George had with his family was on December 14, when he drove from Alicante to Benidorm, according to British media reports. Concern arose when they stopped receiving calls and he did not appear on his return flight, scheduled for December 18.
Tuesday's operation also led to the arrest of another individual for alleged connections to the victim and a suspected homicide. The investigation remains ongoing.

The family's lawyer, Kevin Winters, told BBC News on Tuesday that the missing man's father received a call from "the Spanish police" around 5 p.m. - one hour earlier in Spain - to inform him of the discovery of George's body.
The man travelled to Alicante weeks ago to search for his son, without success. According to the British newspaper, the family is "relieved by this latest news, which ends an extremely torturous search for the body," as they await formal identification following the autopsy.
