Officers of the National Police have arrested a 29-year-old man of Moroccan origin in Alcoi for committing several crimes of robbery with violence and theft. To carry out the violent robberies, he used the 'snatch' method, surprising victims when they were using their mobile phones.
The investigation began after a series of complaints related to mobile phone thefts, most of which were committed with the same modus operandi. The alleged perpetrator surprised victims in public when they were using their phones, approached from behind, and gave a strong pull, taking the phone and fleeing the scene.
Similarly, the characteristics of the alleged perpetrator provided by the complainants were very similar, leading investigators to suspect that the crimes could be attributed to the same person.
The robberies were committed with great speed and surprise from behind. Additionally, the alleged perpetrator covered his face with a hood, making it difficult for victims to provide specific details about the appearance of their assailant.
With all the gathered information and after a series of investigations and inquiries, the officers were able to fully identify and arrest the alleged perpetrator.
Following the arrest of this individual, investigators were able to clarify a total of thirteen incidents in which the detainee had participated.
The arrested individual was brought before the duty Court of Instruction in the town of Alcoy, and his imprisonment was ordered.
