The General Director of Vocento Gastronomy, Benjamín Lana, along with the renowned chefs Karlos and Eva Arguiñano, have been honoured at the inaugural edition of the Euskadi Gastronomika Sariak Awards. Created by the Basque Government's Department of Tourism, Trade and Consumer Affairs and the Basque Tourism Agency Basquetour, these awards recognise individuals and entities that promote the responsible enjoyment of cultural and scenic heritage, advocate for inclusive and accessible tourism, and, in a spirit of solidarity, highlight the gastronomic culture and social commitment of the Basque region.

The jury for these awards comprises professionals from tourism and gastronomy consultancy, as well as academia and communication. They will select the six winners who have excelled in their contribution to the sector in the categories of Origin, Elkarrekin, Ongi Etorri, Wow, Innova, and Kompromiso. Although the names of the awardees will be officially announced next Monday at the Euskadi Gastronomika Festa, the two special mentions mentioned earlier have already been revealed.

In this way, under the recognition titled 'Difusión Euskadi es Gastronomika', the General Director of Vocento Gastronomy, Benjamín Lana, a distinguished gastronomic journalist with an extensive career in editorial projects, is honoured. He currently leads Madrid Fusión and San Sebastián Gastronomika.

Lana balances this role with organising other significant international congresses such as Worldcanic, Terrae, and El Encuentro de los Mares, which recently earned him the Grand Prix of the International Academy of Gastronomy. On this occasion, Lana has been recognised for his work in promoting and positioning Euskadi as a leading gastronomic destination.

Passion and Values

The other special mention will be for the siblings Karlos and Eva Arguiñano in the category of 'Reconocimiento Euskadi Gastronomika Maitea', awarded to professionals who contribute to projecting a positive image of the Basque region, its culture, and its gastronomy; who passionately disseminate its values and have been organic advocates due to their career or media relevance. This is something that both chefs fully represent.

The renowned chefs Karlos and Eva Arguiñano.

The chef Karlos Arguiñano, a television pioneer and one of Spain's most beloved personalities, has brought Basque cuisine into millions of homes with a cheerful and approachable style, always under a strong commitment to local produce. His sister Eva, on the other hand, is a prestigious pastry chef who has successfully carved her own path in the industry.
