Archduchess Estelle of Austria passed away on March 4, 2025, at the age of 46. The news of her death was announced through an obituary notice published in the obituaries section of Le Figaro. Her unexpected passing, the causes of which have not been disclosed, has caused great shock in European aristocratic circles. As the wife of Archduke Carl-Christian of Austria, she leaves behind five children, aged between 17 and 4 years.
Born in 1979 into an aristocratic family, Estelle married Carl-Christian, a descendant of the last Emperor of Austria, Charles I, and part of the Habsburg-Lorraine branch established in Belgium, in 2007. She played a discreet yet significant role within European nobility, balancing her duties as a mother with active involvement in charitable causes and cultural activities. Estelle participated in numerous charitable initiatives, particularly in the fields of education and the preservation of historical heritage.
Her sudden death has prompted numerous expressions of condolences from royalty and aristocracy, as well as from those who knew her through her philanthropic work. Her funeral will take place this Tuesday, March 11, at the Franciscan Monastery of Cimiez in Nice.
