The season starts as it ended. Antena 3 maintains its audience leadership in the first month of the new television season with a 12.8% audience share, which is an increase of 1.7 points compared to August, where the Atresmedia channel co-led with La 1, boosted by the good data from the Olympic Games and the Vuelta a España. On the other hand, the first public channel manages to retain second position in September by signing a 9.7% share (losing 1.4 points in a monthly period) thanks, to a large extent, to the overwhelming success of 'La revuelta' by David Broncano, which has helped it to boost a prime time that was at a minimum.
Precisely, the battle in access prime time has become the most competitive slot on traditional television, accustomed in recent years to losing viewers due to consumption fragmentation and the rise of streaming platforms. According to data from a report by the consultancy Dos30', Antena 3's 'El hormiguero' is the most-watched program on television with more than 2,253,000 followers and an 18.1% share, also closing the best month in its history. The interviews with Victoria Federica (2,893,000 and 23%) and Lamine Yamal (3,017,000 and 23.3%) were the most watched. TVE's 'La revuelta' gets the silver medal with 2,212,000 viewers and a 17% share, although it should be noted that Pablo Motos' show started a week earlier than its rival.
Among the assets with which Antena 3 maintains its unbeatable first position is the return of 'La voz' (1,226,000 and a 15%), although it also faltered with other debuts such as 'López y Leal contra el canal' (fell to 6.8% after its promising premiere with a 13.3%) or the specials of 'Pasapalabra' in Saturday's prime time, which said goodbye with a 7.9% and barely 800,000 viewers. La 1 also has among its successes the new season of 'MasterChef Celebrity' (averaging a 14.5% share) and the premiere of the series 'Las abogadas', with an average of 1,291,000 viewers and a 13.3% share. However, the public channel stumbled with other bets of the season such as '59 segundos' (6.6%) or 'La ruta Morancos' (7.4%).
This time, third place in ratings went to Telecinco, which recorded its worst September with a 9.5% share. It improved by nine-tenths compared to August but failed to catch up with TVE and is 3.3 points behind Antena 3. Mediaset's channel placed the special '¡De viernes!' featuring Julián Muñoz's posthumous interview (more than 1.1 million viewers and a 19.9%) among the most-watched programs of the month and also celebrates the good performance of 'Gran hermano's return, averaging a 16.7% share on Thursday's gala.
On another note, Antena 3 is the leading channel in September in eleven autonomous communities. Its leadership stands out in Andalusia (14.5%), Valencia Community (14.6%), and Canary Islands (13.4%). La 1 maintains control in four territories: Madrid (12.6%), Cantabria (13.8%), Basque Country (11.2%), and La Rioja (11.6%). Telecinco only wins in Navarra (11.6%) and TV3 leads in Catalonia (13.6%). Thus, Atresmedia's channel maintains its leadership among women (14.8% share) and regains first place among men (10.3%). Boing is the leading channel among children aged 4 to 12 years old with a record of a 10.8% share in this population segment while Antena 3 leads among others.
Regarding the particular battle in news programs, 'Antena 3 Noticias' wins comfortably across all editions (1,682,000 viewers and a 17.7% share), although Sandra Golpe dominates midday slots (1,920,000 and a 21.7%) against her competitors. At night, Vicente Vallés takes home victory (1,748,000 and a 16.8%) while Marta Carazo slightly raises her numbers on La 1 as Broncano's lead-in (1,126,000 and a 10.9%). The worst part goes to Carlos Franganillo on Telecinco (939,000 and a 9%), marking Mediaset news programs' worst historical series.
At the bottom of the table, Cuatro signs its best season start since 2020 by recording a 5.4% share in September but remains behind La Sexta (6.2%). FDF is TDT's leading thematic channel for the month with a 2.6%, followed by Energy (2.3%), Divinity and Nova both tied at a 2.1%. The most-watched broadcast of the month on television corresponds to La 1 with UEFA Nations League match Spain-Switzerland gathering up to 3,284,000 viewers and a 29.3% share.
Additionally, average consumption per person in Spain stands at September at around minutes per day.
