Second closed beach in less than 24 hours in Alicante province. The Ministry of Environment has reported a new contamination episode at another beach, originating from residual sources.

This concerns a section of the Arenal-Bol beach, located in Calp, which affects the mouth of the Quisi ravine.

The City Council has followed the Ministry's recommendations and has cordoned off the affected swimming area, as well as hoisting the red flag to prohibit swimming.

Additionally, the beach staff has also lowered the blue flag - which indicates water quality - and it will be raised again once the test results are positive.

Meanwhile, the Calp City Council has announced plans to create a sand barrier at the mouth of the Quisi ravine to prevent more water from reaching the sea.

This is intended to halt the contamination, which has affected the water at this Alicante municipality's beach.

Furthermore, the Calp council states that the preventive measures of beach closure and swimming prohibition will remain until new samples and analyses from the Ministry are available.

The municipal forecast for new health and water quality data is set for this Friday. It will be then when it is confirmed whether this section of the beach is suitable for swimming.

More beach closures

Another beach closed to swimming is Cala Cerrada in Orihuela. The City Council reported this Wednesday on a residual contamination episode reflected in the Ministry's water quality reports.

After learning the analysis results, the beach was closed to address the issue and conduct another sampling to reopen this other beach in Alicante province.
