Álvarez 'Canario' Flies with Uruguay, Missing Eldense Derby

Elche striker Agustín 'Canario' Álvarez has been called up by Uruguay's national team for two official matches in the upcoming FIFA window. The forward will join Marcelo Bielsa's squad for crucial South American qualifiers against Argentina and Bolivia, aiming for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Consequently, Álvarez will miss the upcoming derby against Eldense at Martínez Valero.

Uruguay will face Argentina on 22 March and Bolivia on 25 March. Currently, Uruguay sits second in their qualifying group with 20 points, actively competing to secure their spot in the World Cup.

Agustín Álvarez's call-up confirms his excellent form with Elche CF and adds to his personal joy following the recent birth of his second child, Lucca. The striker joined Uruguay's training camp this Sunday and will remain with the national team until 27 March, returning to Elche on 28 March to rejoin coach Eder Sarabia's training sessions.

Álvarez will participate in two key matches for Uruguay's qualification hopes and, upon his return, will be available for Elche CF's next league fixture, an away match against Córdoba CF.

Meanwhile, Elche CF has secured 520 tickets for their upcoming away match at Nuevo Arcángel Stadium against Córdoba CF, scheduled for Sunday, 30 March at 14:00. Tickets are exclusively available to season ticket holders at a price of 20 euros.

Tickets have been available since Friday, 14 March, and will remain on sale until Tuesday, 25 March. Unlike previous occasions, season ticket holders will not need to collect tickets at the box office; instead, they will receive them via email on Thursday, 27 March. Those purchasing bus tickets will receive an additional email detailing their bus number and assigned seat.

Additionally, Elche CF, in collaboration with the Federation of Supporters' Clubs and Fondo Sur 1923, has organised a bus trip to Córdoba. Initially priced at 40 euros per seat, the club will subsidise 10 euros per ticket following a proposal from both groups, reducing the cost to 30 euros. Departure is scheduled for matchday, Sunday, 30 March, at 05:00 from the parking area opposite Martínez Valero Stadium, with the return journey immediately after the match.
