The Association of Nightlife and Restaurant Establishments (Alroa) has filed a document at the Alicante City Hall requesting a meeting with the city's mayor, Luis Barcala, to analyze the ruling that establishes the application of an Acoustic Saturated Zone (ZAS) and to consensually establish solutions to the noise issue, given that not all responsibility can be attributed to legal, regulated, inspected, and controlled activities.
In the document submitted through official registration, the sector expresses its interest in setting an "urgent meeting in this regard, in which we consider the presence of Mr. Mayor of the Hon. Alicante City Hall, Mr. Barcala, essential," as well as the technicians who can collaborate on proposing modulated solutions that are useful for coexistence between the tourist activity of nightlife and restaurant establishments and residents in the area.
At the same time, professional entities in the nightlife and restaurant tourism sector have requested from the City Council the technical reports that justify the intention to reduce opening hours and terrace surface extension.
Specifically, and as stated in the document "for the purpose of informing us regarding technical issues related to the announced ZAS, I formally and expressly request that you urgently send me the technical report from the company that would have carried out noise level measurements on Castaños Street, as well as its identity and the contract signed between it and this Hon. City Hall, given that we have not been able to locate it on this Organization's transparency portal." The sector companies expressed in the same document that "we are convinced that constructive dialogue can lead to effective and beneficial solutions for all."
Alroa and other entities linked to nightlife and restaurant sectors have warned that the negative impact of measures announced by the City Hall could endanger nearly 2,000 jobs and could lead to the closure of many establishments that rely heavily on their terrace activity.
