This morning, at Hort dels Pontos, the L'Aljub Shopping Centre, managed by CBRE, organised a media gathering under the theme 'Our Destination: A Sustainable Future'. During the event, the shopping centre presented its 2024 ESG balance, communicated the achievements of the year, and announced some of the most important developments planned for 2025. The presentation was led by Daniel Párraga García, the shopping centre manager, and Lucía González Ortiz, L'Aljub's Marketing Director.

Throughout the presentation, Daniel Párraga, manager of the L'Aljub Shopping Centre, highlighted the achievements in sustainability and environmental matters, stating, "This past year, we achieved the certificate of origin guarantee for our electricity, which is 100% renewable. Additionally, we improved our energy rating from a C to a B, which means we have reduced our consumption by 48% since 2019. Furthermore, he announced that "by 2025, we will have a park of 45 electric charging stations and new electric scooter parking with charging facilities, as well as the Bici Elx station, all to promote sustainable mobility."

"Other significant achievements in 2024 included the installation of the second phase of the solar photovoltaic station, which we expanded, now having 1,200 panels. In total, 528 kW are installed, occupying an area similar to four Olympic swimming pools. Thus, L'Aljub saves 10% annually in CO2 tonnes, equivalent to the fuel consumption of 1,000 cars per year," the manager informed during the presentation.

Párraga also highlighted that "2024 leaves us with the best year in L'Aljub's history, with a 6% increase in visitor traffic to the centre and a 9% growth in sales in the shops, and we have achieved 99% occupancy per square metre."

Additionally, the manager reported on the annual figures of the Solidarity Space: "We have carried out a total of 65 ESG actions and activities, which amounted to 235 days of activity, more than 27,000 euros in donations and collaborations, and around 59,500 euros in free space allocations to NGOs."

For her part, Lucía González pointed out the actions for the coming year, which will focus mainly on five UN SDGs: Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Reduced Inequalities, and Climate Action.

"The L'Aljub Shopping Centre has set out, within its 'Destination 2030' project, to develop inclusive plans for people with Down syndrome, hearing disabilities, autism spectrum, etc. For example, we are already working on creating adapted sessions for people with ASD in our ABC Cinemas," stated the Marketing Director.

Another announcement made by Lucía González was that "we are going to renovate the upper floor to adapt it to the Oasis positioning and improve our customers' experience, all following ESG guidelines." Finally, she declared that "after more than a year of renovation, the ABC Cinemas will complete the works in the third quarter of the year. Thus, they become an establishment with genuinely premium and more sustainable and inclusive rooms."

Once the presentation concluded, all attendees were invited to a healthy "Brunch" that served as an opportunity for networking and asking questions. Additionally, this event also aimed to celebrate Journalist Day, which was on 24 January.
