The end of summer in Alicante has been marked by rain and cooler weather than the beginning of autumn. On Saturday, it rained across the province, cooling the day, replenishing reservoirs, and addressing part of the rainfall deficit that the province has been experiencing during this nearly concluded hydrological year.
Now, the province welcomes the new season with highs reaching 30 degrees in various locations. In fact, numerous beachgoers took advantage of Sunday's summer temperatures to take their last dips in Alicante's beaches, with some scares, such as in les Deveses beach in Dénia, where they shared the water with a special guest: a shark. Fortunately, lifeguards acted quickly and raised the red flag for safety.
Regarding temperatures for Monday, September 23, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts a sunny day with temperatures reaching 28 ºC in the city of Alicante. Vega Baja will experience the hottest Monday, with highs reaching 30 ºC.
As days go by, temperatures will increase. Aemet predicts highs of 29 ºC on Tuesday, 30 on Wednesday, and 32 on Thursday, which will be the hottest day of the first week of autumn. In other parts of the province, temperatures remain stable. In Orihuela and Elche, temperatures will reach 34 degrees midweek.
For the weekend, more autumn-like temperatures are expected. Aemet forecasts highs of 25 degrees and lows of 19 in the city of Alicante for Saturday. The interior of the province will be most affected by the drop in temperature. In Alcoi, highs are expected to be 20 ºC and lows 12 ºC.
