Madrid - Fitur
Sábado, 25 de enero 2025, 07:16
El Fitur of records has also been the Fitur of the DANA. The Valencian Community arrived at the year's event for the sector with a great responsibility: to leave behind what had happened but without erasing it from memory. The catastrophe of the flood that affected more than 200 people deeply impacted the Valencian economy in the following months, with hundreds of businesses unable to open and a significant drop in tourism, one of the main drivers of the sector.
And it has been about leaving it behind but not erasing it from memory because the tragedy has been present at all times in the day-to-day of the Valencian Community at Fitur. With constant reminders of the affected municipalities, but also of the solidarity of a people who rallied and a sector that helped those most in need.
Because the record year for tourism has also been a year of solidarity from the sector with Valencia, and it is in this 2025 that the Generalitat wants to make tourism the great driving force for the recovery of the province of Valencia. A daunting task that would be aided by repeating the figures achieved in 2024, with nearly 30 million tourists throughout the region and increases in sector employment, air capacity, and foreign visitors.
These have been the data most exposed over these three days of professional Fitur in which more than 260 presentations were made, 86% more than in 2024, in an edition that featured 317 companies and 300 co-exhibitors, the highest figure ever, once again placing the Valencian Community and the province of Alicante as the great tourist destinations of Spain.
The city of Alicante has played a pivotal role during these three days of intense professional presentations, as it has been the Fitur edition in which Alicante ascended to the pinnacle of gastronomy by becoming the Spanish capital in this field. The edition of the 'belleas', who were able to converse with Queen Letizia and had the opportunity to invite Their Majesties to the centenary of the Alicante festival in 2028. Undoubtedly, they have been some of the main protagonists of Alicante's tourism promotion.
The city has held meetings, presentations, and showcookings to showcase the charms of the 'terreta' to all visitors. Despite the major focus of Mayor Luis Barcala's team being centred on gastronomy, they have also sought new segments to diversify their great tourist offer.
Thus, agreements have been signed to promote filming in Alicante, through the Ciudad de la Luz studios, with the aim of turning the city into a hub for film tourism. Additionally, new congresses have been secured for MICE tourism, which is bringing much joy to the sector.

The Costa Blanca has not lagged behind either. With Benidorm leading with its own stand and launching two pioneering certifications to make the town one of the best destinations in Alicante, the Patronato has explored new ways to connect the province with Europe. Thus, the president of the organisation, Toni Pérez, closed several agreements with airlines to bring flights from Moldova or more destinations in the United Kingdom.
At the same time, the brand brought the province's municipalities to Fitur, where they held numerous showcookings, showcasing the qualities of their products, but also several dozen presentations in a specific room for the Costa Blanca where the popular festivals, culture, or other tourist attractions of towns from all regions could be known.
Elche could not be missing either, which attended with its own space in the Valencian Community stand, featuring a palm craftsmanship workshop that all the authorities and many visitors passed through, who were amazed by the white sculptures. Its great presentation of the Jubilee Year with a live performance stood out.
An edition that also has been called the "toughest we have experienced as the Valencian Community". This is how the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has described it on several occasions. The head of the Consell wanted to use Fitur as a loudspeaker to convey "the optimism, joy, and hospitality of the territory, but also our great strength and sense of unity to rise stronger."
Also described as "the great lever for recovery", Fitur has brought together thousands of visitors in a Generalitat stand that has integrated under its umbrella the main tourist brands of the territory, with space for Alicante, Elche, and Benidorm, but also for the Costa Blanca, which attended in representation of all the Alicante municipalities.
The DANA has been present in the institutional visits of the Kings, who received artisan fans from Aldaia in gratitude for their "solidarity", and from Feijóo, who wore a Valencia pin in support of the province and the critical moments it is going through. It also revolved around the presentation of the 'Day of the Valencian Community' last Thursday, when Mazón announced a strategic plan to recover tourism in the areas affected by the floods, including a Travel Voucher for residents of zone 0.

But it has also been the Fitur of gastronomy, and not only because of Alicante's recognition in this field, but because of a showcooking space that has been bustling every day with a multitude of live recipes and local products of the highest quality. Thus, wines and oils gained importance before giving way to avant-garde tapas, crusted rice, or a la banda with red shrimp.
In short, a record-breaking Fitur in which the Generalitat stand has sought to give a sense of "unity", of everyone with everyone, with the DANA of Valencia present in the form of tributes and with tourism, the true protagonist of these days, operating at full capacity with important meetings and advances for this 2025.
