The expansion of the El Plantío tourist and sports complex in Alicante is closer to becoming a reality after years of waiting. The Alicante City Council announced this Friday the granting of environmental and construction licenses for the upcoming construction of 147 new apartments and a large swimming pool covering 1,000 square meters.
The decree issued by the Urban Planning Department allows for increased buildability of the facilities located on the Old Elche Road, at kilometer 3, where 98 tourist accommodations already operate. The project involves a total investment, considering the first phase already executed, of 18.6 million euros, according to municipal sources.
The execution period is set at 24 months, starting from the signing of the act of replanning and commencement of the work. This unlocks an initiative that had been stalled since 2008.
The area councillor, Rocío Gómez, highlighted that this license "is yet another example of the work being carried out by the City Council to promote files that represent significant and dynamic investments for Alicante, such as the hotel in La Albufereta."
The government team details that the resolution, notified this Friday to El Plantío Golf Resort S.L., has been issued in accordance with the comprehensive action granted by the Valencian Government agreement dating back to May 31, 1993. It adds that it is done in accordance with Article 20 of Law 4/1992, of June 5, of the Generalitat, as well as its amendment (DIC-14/0343) approved by the Territorial Urban Planning Commission on April 23, 2018. This legal framework is linked to the prior and mandatory coverage of the granted license, according to Urban Planning.
Furthermore, all necessary reports have been gathered beforehand, which, among other purposes, have served as a basis for dismissing the objections presented to the project. Before starting the works, the company must comply with a series of conditions, including providing the guarantee and formalizing the land transfer valued at 170,159 euros to the Alicante City Council, which will be allocated to the Municipal Land Heritage.
Additionally, it must ensure compliance with the measures of the landscape integration and flood studies.
