Alicante has promoted the purchase contracts for 12 vehicles so far this year to renew the fleet of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Service (Speis) of the city, to which they have allocated nearly three million euros. After awarding the supply of 10 specialized units for different types of emergencies at the end of May for 2.7 million euros, another 126,000 euros are now added to incorporate two more electric command and headquarters vehicles.

The last agreement of the Government Board for the renewal of the fleet was approved this past Wednesday, accepting the only offer presented for the supply of two electric command and headquarters service vehicles from the company MS Dealer Alicante S.A. for an amount of 126,735.64 euros.

This purchase is added to the one approved by the Government Board of the Alicante City Council on May 30 for the supply of another 10 specialized fire trucks to deal with different types of emergencies, including trucks, vans, and all-terrain vehicles, with an expenditure of 2,706,833 euros, in four lots awarded to the companies Iveco España S.L., Incipresa S.A.U, and Floymeca S.A.

Specifically, the contract for the supply of two heavy urban fire engines and one light urban fire engine was awarded to Iveco España for 1,553,325 euros; a decontamination van to Flomeyca for 184,782 euros; a reserve air van, a diving van, and a rescue van, as well as a rescue chassis-cab truck to Incipresa for 755,161 euros; and two all-terrain command and headquarters vehicles also to Flomeyca for another 213,565 euros.

This tender is part of a set of initiatives worth more than six million euros launched since the beginning of the term by the municipal government for the renewal of the fleet of vehicles, material, and facilities of its emergency and security services, such as the supply of another nine SUV patrol vehicles for the Local Police awarded to the company Técnicas y Servicios de Automoción S.A. at the end of October for 391,551 euros.

Material

In the second half of 2023, the contract for the supply of 250 helmets, 300 under-helmets, intervention gloves, and 100 helmet flashlights for the personal protection equipment of the Fire Department was also awarded for another 308,066 euros; as well as the preventive and corrective maintenance contract for the SPEIS vehicle fleet, which consists of 32 trucks and command vehicles, to the company Truck Deal S.L. for 176,217.05 euros for the next two years. Among the improvements introduced in this service, it is worth highlighting the extension of the repair warranty from six to 10 months, as well as the monitoring of the status and maintenance of the vehicles through a computer application.

The Councilor for Citizen Security, Julio Calero, has emphasized that "the municipal government team is making a significant investment that we committed to at the beginning of this term, aimed at modernizing the facilities and means of the municipal emergency and security services, therefore, improving the security these services offer to the citizens."

Other investments

In this regard, it should be noted that in the last week of October, a public tender was also approved to contract the supply of 290 structural fire suits needed for the SPEIS firefighters with a base bidding budget of 598,249 euros.

It is also worth remembering the boost given to the reform projects of the 'Jesús González Soria' park on Jaime II Avenue, awarded to the company Esclapés e Hijos S.L. for 405,380.92 euros and currently under execution, and the construction of a pergola for trucks at the 'Idelfonso Prats' park in Playa San Juan for 45,466 euros by Promed Consulting S.L.U.
