The performing arts festival Fresca! is gearing up for its fifth edition in Alicante. It will take place from July 15 to 26, featuring significant novelties, especially in its locations, and offering a 'closer look' by including three large-scale Valencian productions to support the sector after the storm.

One of the shows, which will open the grand Fresca! stage, has Alicante authorship. It is 'Prometheus', by the company Otradanza directed by Asun Noales from Elche, featuring seven dancers on stage to recreate elements of mythology, the world of gods, creation, and the human condition through various choreographies.

This new edition of Fresca! will include two music and theatre shows, two dance performances, three out of five, and four mime theatre productions. Additionally, it maintains two free street performances, which will be moved to the gardens of the Alicante Provincial Council on July 15 and 16, as the entity is a new collaborator of the festival.

"Fresca! consolidates with its fifth edition and it's time to collaborate," said the Deputy of Culture, Juan de Dios Navarro. "The Alicante Provincial Council could not stay on the sidelines," hence they are open to hosting a live music show and a story of overcoming with clown language before inaugurating the festival.

With this, the city of Alicante will gain a 'breath of culture' in its summer agenda, also remarked the delegate of the Valencian Institute of Culture in Alicante, Alicia Garijo, who celebrated the Provincial Council's adherence to "enhance" the Fresca! festival.

Regarding collaborations, the relationship of this IVC festival is maintained through the Teatre Arniches, with Casa Mediterráneo. The old Benalúa station will be, for the third consecutive year, the venue for the main days of the festival, with a double stage: Fresca! for large-scale productions and Frescoreta! for a more family-oriented audience.

Likewise, the Alicante-Terminal train station will be a meeting point between locals and travelers, as for the first time, an exhibition on the first four editions of Fresca!, including photographs and documents, will be located in its hall.

Fresca! 2025 Programme

The Fresca! festival continues its mission to "inspire, generate questions, meet and reunite" during this fifth edition, which will host proposals from various parts of Spain and internationally between July 15 and 26.

The festival will kick off with two free proposals in the gardens of the Alicante Provincial Council. 'Monsieur Florian' by La Zigurat Circus Band will inaugurate the festival on July 15, followed by 'L'Actitud' by Jam the next day in the same space, as part of 'Fresca! al carrer'.

The show 'Prometheus' by Otradanza will open the grand Fresca! stage at Casa Mediterráneo on July 17, and Circuspunto will inaugurate the Frescoreta! space, also at the diplomatic institution's headquarters, on July 19 with 'Somos'.

The programme continues with 'Embolic' in the Frescoreta! space on Monday, July 21, 'Verde cas negro' on the 22nd in Fresca! and Claudette on the 23rd in Frescoreta!. Flamenco also arrives at the festival with 'Muerta de Amor' by Manuel Liñán and company on July 24 on the main stage.

'Calor' will appear in the Frescoreta! space on Friday, July 25, before concluding the festival with 'Oedipus Rex' by Bambalina Teatre Practicable, which will stage more than 35 performers, including actors and actresses, musicians, and the Ad Libitum chamber choir from the Voces Juntas Choral School.
