Alicante is losing momentum in the bedroom, with locals experiencing a decline in their sexual activity. According to the 'Study on Sexual Habits in Spain 2025' by Diversual, residents of the province have engaged in less sexual activity than a year ago.
The document, which includes responses from 4,794 individuals aged 18 and over, highlights that the average frequency of sexual encounters in the province has decreased from 7.57 times per month to 6.1 in just one year, placing Alicante below the national average of 6.3 sexual encounters per month.
Moreover, this decline distances the province from Alicante's previously more active positions in the country. The ranking is led by Teruel with an average of 8.1 sexual encounters per month, followed by Jaén with eight times, the same number as in Cáceres.
At the regional level, Alicante ranks among the lowest, with a more sexually active Valencia averaging 6.7 encounters, and Castellón matching 'la terreta' with 6.1 times per month.
Infidelity, fantasies, and practices
The study also addresses aspects such as fidelity, the most common sexual fantasies, and the most frequent practices. In Spain, 28.9% of people admit to having been unfaithful, with a slightly higher percentage among women.
Sexual fantasies continue to be led by the desire to experience a threesome (57.7%), followed by having encounters in places outside the bedroom. In practice, 69.3% have had sex in locations other than the bed, and 56.3% in public places.
Protection and sexual education, critical points
One of the most concerning data points in the report refers to condom use. 45.8% of women report having been pressured to engage in sexual activity without protection, compared to 14% of men. Additionally, 40.6% of men and 52.6% of women acknowledge having had unprotected sex with non-stable partners.
The study also warns about the early age of access to pornography: the national average is 15 years, but more than 57% consume it between the ages of 8 and 16. Regarding current consumption, men watch porn an average of 11.5 days per month, compared to 2.7 days for women.
