Alicante's Juan Rodes, Finalist for the 'Society of Concerts-Oftalvist' Interpretation Award

Juan Rodes Pintor, a pianist from Alicante, is among the seven finalists for the Interpretation Award granted by the Society of Concerts and Oftalvist in its 40th edition. The final of the competition will take place next Monday, bringing six other young musical talents to the province.

The 'short list' for this award includes, alongside Juan Rodes, Andreea Braga (vocals, Madrid), Emma Stratton (piano, Barcelona), Marco Antonio Reyes (piano, Paterna), Oriana Larisa Kelmelmajer (piano, Barcelona), Sofía Ros (accordion and piano, Santander), and Vicent Orón (saxophone, Rafelbunyol).

The jury has selected the finalists for this 40th edition of the 'Society of Concerts of Alicante-Oftalvist' Interpretation Award from over 25 candidates who entered the first phase of the competition.

The final round will be held from 9 a.m. this Monday at the Conservatory of Music of Alicante. Participants will present a 30-minute programme of their choice to the jury.

From the Society of Concerts of Alicante, they state that this award is "one of the most prestigious on the national scene" and the call for this new edition was aimed at musicians born after January 1, 1999. In the case of vocalists, the deadline is set for January 1, 1989.

The winner of this award will give a recital as part of the Society of Concerts of Alicante's programme, in addition to receiving a cash prize of 3,000 euros and a certificate. They will also receive two free passes for the season's concerts.

Additionally, the second prize consists of one thousand euros and a certificate. If deemed appropriate, the jury may award up to two honourable mentions, each consisting of 300 euros as a travel grant. All contestants reaching the final stage who are not awarded will receive a finalist certificate.

The winner of the last 'Society of Concerts-Oftalvist' Interpretation Award was the Catalan violinist Miquel Muñiz.
