Alicante Increases Budget for Christmas, Hogueras, and Carnival Lights

Las próximas fiestas de Alicante contarán con mayor cantidad de luces ornamentales. La Junta de Gobierno de Local ha aprobado este martes la licitación del nuevo contrato, que amplía el presupuesto para la decoración de las fiestas de Hogueras, Navidad y Carnaval para los próximo tres años.

The upcoming festivities in Alicante will feature a greater number of ornamental lights. The Local Government Board approved the tender for the new contract this Tuesday, which increases the budget for the decoration of the Hogueras, Christmas, and Carnival celebrations for the next three years.

El concurso sale a licitación con un presupuesto base de 2,1 millones de euros, un 31% más que el anterior contrato, que abarcó hasta la pasada anualidad de 2024. Este nuevo precio de las luces festivas de Alicante se dividirá en tres anualidades, con inicio estas Hogueras, y posibilidad de prórroga.

The tender is launched with a base budget of 2.1 million euros, 31% more than the previous contract, which lasted until the last year of 2024. This new price for Alicante's festive lights will be divided into three annual payments, starting with this year's Hogueras, with the possibility of extension.

Así, las luces de este 2025 tendrán un importe de 316.808,25 euros; mientras que las de 2026 y 2027 ascenderán a 700.000 por anualidad. En el caso de 2028, el precio de los motivos será de 383.191,75 euros.

Thus, the lights for 2025 will cost 316,808.25 euros; while those for 2026 and 2027 will rise to 700,000 euros per year. In 2028, the price for the decorations will be 383,191.75 euros.

La portavoz del equipo de Gobierno y concejal de Fiestas de Alicante, Cristina Cutanda, ha explicado que con dicho aumento del presupuesto se pretende incrementar la cantidad de luces y elementos que se ubicarán en distintos puntos de la ciudad durante las fiestas.

The spokesperson for the Government team and Alicante's Councillor for Festivities, Cristina Cutanda, explained that with this budget increase, the aim is to increase the number of lights and elements that will be placed in various parts of the city during the festivities.

Con ello se pretende «fomentar el comercio local y el turismo», pues fiestas como las de Navidad son un gran atractivo en Alicante. Es en estas donde se reparte mayor presupuesto de luces porque «de todas las actividades que organizamos (desde el Ayuntamiento), una con gran reclamo son las luces».

This aims to "promote local commerce and tourism," as festivities like Christmas are a major attraction in Alicante. It is during these that the largest budget for lights is allocated because "of all the activities we organise (from the City Council), one with great appeal is the lights."

El vicealcalde Manuel Villar ha reiterado también que este contrato pretende «dar una mayor fuerza a la Navidad», ya que el presupuesto se fundamenta en «una mayor inversión» que permitirá contar con luces «más potentes», en cuanto a decoración y estilos ya que todas serán LED de bajo consumo.

The Deputy Mayor, Manuel Villar, also reiterated that this contract aims to "give more strength to Christmas," as the budget is based on "greater investment" that will allow for "more powerful" lights in terms of decoration and styles, as all will be low-consumption LED.

La intención, además, es «llegar al mayor número de calles». Para ello, se atenderán las peticiones de vecinos y comerciantes a través de las Concejalías de Fiestas, Participación Ciudadana y Comercio para derivarlas al área de Infraestructuras, encargada del contrato de las luces de Navidad.

The intention is also to "reach the largest number of streets." To achieve this, requests from residents and merchants will be addressed through the Departments of Festivities, Citizen Participation, and Commerce to be forwarded to the Infrastructure area, responsible for the Christmas lights contract.
