On the second Friday of Lent, Alicante's Holy Week gears up for its major days. This Friday, the general Via Crucis of the Major Board of Brotherhoods and Confraternities will take place.
The procession will commence at 8 PM from the Co-Cathedral of San Nicolás, led by the first processional image of the Holy Flagellation, established in 1988.
This brotherhood celebrates the 140th anniversary of the organization of the original confraternity, founded in 1885 and active until 1931, with reorganizations in 1951 and 1968.
The current Penitential Brotherhood of Jesus Tied to the Column in its Holy Flagellation was re-established in 1988 by a group of brothers and parishioners from the San Blas neighborhood.
Thus, the general Via Crucis of the Major Board of Brotherhoods and Confraternities of Alicante's Holy Week will pass through Abad Penalva Square, Miguel Soler Street, San Nicolás Street, Abad Nájera Street, Carmen Square, Carmen Street, Quijano Square, San Agustín Street, Monjas Street, Virgen del Remedio Square, Lonja de Caballeros Street, Mayor Street, and Santísima Faz Square.
The next event will be the drum parade of Alicante's Holy Week, scheduled for Sunday, March 16th at 12 PM in Santa María Square and the Town Hall Square.
